Thoughts from the Weekend

Over the weekend, I realized quite a lot of things have changed since I was a college kid. It led me to ponder a few things. Perhaps some of you can shed some light on the answers.

1. When did techno become cool?

2. What is the deal with skirts that are so short you can see all the business?

3. When did I get so old that the skirts seriously distress me?

Homecoming

Well, it was inevitable. Whenever I go back to Wake Forest for a weekend I end up in a memory haze by the time I leave. It’s almost tangible how much I miss being in college. Having all my friends around me all the time. Dressing up for theme parties, running around the quad in the middle of the night and every other shenanigan imaginable. This weekend was no different. I met up with some of my best friends for an amazing homecoming. It was kicked off by a brunch for my sorority’s 50th year anniversary, which was amazing. Some of the founding sisters made an appearance, I got to see my favorite Chi O’s and I met some amazing Fidele’s. The chucks were busted out & hell was raised. Gold Goblets were distributed and party pigs reigned supreme. A once in a lifetime experience.

Following that was roaming campus with my friends and discovering the new freshman dorm. Holy. Moly. That is an amazing dorm. What an incredible step forward with all it’s energy saving techniques & innovations. Pretty amazing, to say the least.

Fro-Yo at Zack’s was followed by a little tailgating. They have SERIOUSLY upgraded the tailgating experience since I left. It was unbelievably confusing, but I can tell that if I was a student there I would have LOVED it.

The game started out strong… but unfortunately the Hokies pulled the win in the end. Regardless, being back in the stadium was awesome.

We ended the night with a trip to Opera House and a few rounds of darts. The only thing that could have made it better would have been having the whole gang return, too. We missed y’all.

I don’t have the stamina to be back in college. 5 years makes a big difference, but man, wouldn’t it be fun to be able to time travel back every once in awhile?

I was just gonna rag on Alex for calling us Atlantians when it really is just Atlantans, nothing earth-shattering obviously!
Oh, and I'm going to Winston-Salem to visit Marianne this weekend so I'll be in your old stompin' grounds!

Yeah I noticed the Atlantians thing too, and it was a point of contention… I just didn’t want to harass someone who was agreeing with my perspective on Coca-Cola!

Seriously jealous of your trip to the Dash. Have a blast and tear it up at DKE. Also, make MA take you to Zack’s Fro Yo. Delish. Go Deacs!
