Happy Birthday in a Tasty Low-Fat Cake!
Hungry Girl strikes again! A colleague of mine is having a birthday party tomorrow and since the majority of the women at my office are health & diet conscious, I offered to bake a confection that cut down on the calorie count. I did some research and found a recipe from Hungry Girl that I think will take the cake (pun intended). See the recipe below! Deliciously Un-Devilish Chocolate Cake ...

AliCat
This is a photo of my Dad’s dad (top right) during the World War II with his armored car which was named AliCat. My name is Ali and as a kid I was frequently called Ali-Cat. I never knew about this coincidence until today… and I think it’s pretty cool.

Snow. Again.
Well, we got another nine inches over the course of last night. I left for work around 10:30, because there was no way I was driving on that mess before a reasonable amount of plowing had been done. So Jack and I get in the car (my rear wheel drive/non-snow tire car, more on that later) and drive out of the garage (sooooo glad I pay that little extra every month so I don’t have to shovel my...

Every Day I Love You
This week I received a series of packages from my mom & dad. It was the influx of Christmas presents that I couldn’t carry on the plane with me. This Christmas, my mom found something special when she was on a vacation with friends. She and my Dad ordered three of them and had them sent to Atlanta to give to my sisters and me as presents. When we opened them, we found distressed wood...

I love watching Georgians try to dress for the...
brklyn: We don’t own appropriate cold weather apparel so mostly we try to make do with what we have. This usually ends up making everyone look like they were dressing up for tacky day. I just saw someone with a bucket hat that was made for fishing with a scarf wrapped around the top of it. Guess he doesn’t own a toboggan. Brilliant.

My First Nor'Easter
For a Georgia girl, a blizzard is pretty exciting stuff. I haven’t lost power, I got out of work and there is massive snow on the ground. Enough to make more than a few snowmen. I’ve been happily watching the swirling snow float down all day and ventured out into the weather this afternoon to take some pictures. I have a feeling, though, that when this doesn’t all melt away in a...

LOST
I have just begun Season 3 of LOST. When I finished Portfolio Center, one of my best friends and I had nothing to do everyday so we would get up every morning, hang out, eat oatmeal, go to the grocery store to get food and wine and then settle in for a LOST marathon every night. (Hey, Annanana, I miss you!) It was awesome. We made it through 2 seasons before she broke my heart and moved to Texas...

Happy New Year, A Week Late
I had an amazing Christmas. Jack and I headed back to Atlanta for a week and then made the trek to Nebraska to spend New Years with his family. It was hectic and relaxing all at once and coming home to Boston last Sunday made us both extremely sad. We conquered the week with determination and both agreed last night that we needed a lazy weekend of sleeping in, watching movies and relaxing. So...

The Biggest Loser
This is the first time I’ve ever watched The Biggest Loser. I had no idea that it was going to make me cry so much. Just watching these people fight so hard to lose the weight is extremely moving, but it makes me really sad that they would “kick people off” the show for not losing enough weight. I know it’s supposed to be a motivational system, but I wish they would let...
