Brrrr
Jack just informed me that it will be 6 degrees in Nebraska the day I arrive. The warmest it will get is 18. I am going to freeze my butt off. I don’t even think I have enough clothes to make a worthwhile attempt at staying warm…

HAPPY Holidays!
Why? Because I just finished my Christmas shopping, and I only have 2 things left to wrap!

Travelers Beware: Security Edition
In case you plan on traveling this Christmas/Holiday season, I thought it might be nice to warn you. Snowglobes are in NO WAY allowed on planes in your carry-on. They are considered a security hazard and WILL BE CONFISCATED.
This matter is of such serious quality that signs have been posted by the TSA around LaGuardia informing travelers of this development.
Now I ask you: How many people were...

What is your Jersey Shore nickname? →
allidoiswatchthesky:
My Jersey Shore nickname is: The Rack
Guess it’s one of those ironic type of nicknames, like when a really fat guy is nicknamed “Tiny”
(allthingsalishan:dailykayla:kimbaland:artinslowmotion:)
That just made me laugh out loud, Kathy. My Jersey Shore name is “Hot Spot.” I’m not really sure what to do with that.

YAY!
So, I could not be more excited about this weekend. I am pretty sure that it is going to totally put me in the holiday spirit! :) MEG GETS IN TONIGHT! We are going to Artisinal tonight, which is going to be amazing. Cheese and wine? Yes, please. It’s been a long week (I thought yesterday was Friday for awhile. You can imagine the disappointment when reality set in). I need a drink, my best...

Creepy Carols
My sister, Amy, asked me to please blog about Christmas Carols that have creepy undertones. She sent these little nuggets along for your consideration. Let me know of others that might be a bit off, and I’ll add them in. Merry Christmas!
I think you should blog about creepy Christmas Carols.
For instance:
You better watch out, you better not cry. Santa’s coming to town. He sees you...

He Really Likes Us!
Jack and I saw a couple different realtors when we were in Boston, but the last one was a young gay man. He spent the day showing us apartments (unfortunately, none of which we chose) and simultaneously stealing my heart. We had a great day with him, aside from the lack of apartment success. I had to let him know on Tuesday that we’d gone with another apartment, but it worked out because he...

The Good Old Days
Me: I think it was a bad decision to cure my sinus infections. Every time I got one, I would lose about ten pounds.
Mom: But you felt horrible!
Me: But I looked GREAT. Well, except my face. It looked pretty sick, but my body was rockin'.
Mom: So, you would have been what they called a "Paper Bagger?"

True Confessions: Grocery Store Edition
Last night I got off work relatively early, so I decided to cook dinner. I trekked over to the grocery store to pick up some items to cook with as well as some things I needed for the apartment. I checked out, and they loaded my purchases into 3 bags. I left the store with my 3 bags, my bag from work (with my hard drive, notebook and other odds and ends), and my purse. The bags were pretty heavy,...

Gross.
I tried to find an image that would convey how absolutely miserable it is outside, but there was nothing that would suffice. So I settled for this. Let me just tell you, that is not a good way to start a day. Hoofing it 11 blocks in windy, cold, miserable rain is the opposite of delightful. I arrived at work soaking wet. Umbrellas and raincoats just don’t cut it, here. My daydreams today...

Me: Someone took my Diet Dr. Pepper out of the fridge.

Me: Yeah. I'm not pleased.
Hurry Up Weekend
I can’t wait for this weekend to get here because Meg and Matt are coming to visit! Matt and I planned a surprise weekend for Meg (she found out about it… jerk) and we have a great itinerary for their visit. It’s perfect because it’s Christmas, and Meg has never been to NYC at Christmastime before. Pack warm, Miss Florida, it’s cold here! Happy (very early)...

Warm & Cozy
Despite the fact that it is terribly cold outside and it will only be getting colder this weekend, I am comfy and cozy. This is thanks to my fleece lined leggings. I have a new obsession. I think that if it was acceptable, I would wear them every single day. They are so comfortable (thanks, elastic waistband!) and keep my legs toasty when walking down the blustery sidewalks of New York. I’m...

A Survivor Revisits Pearl Harbor →
To reference my friend Joe, today, Dec. 7, is a horrific day in our country’s history that ended with 2,386 American deaths. It helped spur our country into a war that would change many lives, but more importantly the course of the world. We should all take a moment to think about that day and those men.

101 things to do in New York City in winter. →
caryrandolph:
It’s a total bitch, trying to turn that emo frown upside down when the sun sets at three p.m., but we’ve got to do it! The time has come to rally! You think this weather is bad? Just wait till March! Put down the mac ‘n cheese, peel off those leggings, and pin your hair up fancy. It’s time to make this city - a veritable gray scale of sludge and seasonal affective disorder and...

Jenga Jinx
We had just finished eating dinner when our waiter came to clear our plates. As he loaded about 6 separate dishes onto his arms, he began regaling us with a tale of his early days as a bus boy when he tried to carry too many dishes at once and dropped them all on the floor, where they shattered into pieces. He then says as he places the final plate atop his teetering tower, if they all fall, will...

Aspirations
Jack: If you could be doing anything, what would it be?
Ali: Right now?
Jack: Yes, work wise.
Ali: Hmmm.... I don't know.
Ali: Baking cookies and decorating for Christmas, I think.
Jack: hahaha
Ali: I might not be in the right career...

Misdirected
So after our delicious meal at Legal Seafood, Jack and I decided to head back to the hotel. We left in the midst of a snowy evening and proceeded back across the bridge to Boston to locate a CVS and continue on to our hotel. We saw a CVS, but unfortunately we were confounded by a series of one way streets that prevented our reaching the store. 20 minutes of driving later, we found another one,...

Observations about Boston
1. It is really freaking cold.
2. It snows, and the snow sticks to the ground quickly. Having never lived in a city where that happens, it was kind of amazing. And also terrible, all at once.
3. Pedestrians have the right of way in every situation, leading them to believe they are invincible. They just walk out in the middle of the road into traffic and hope for the best. This causes Jack to...

Waiter Wisdom
Upon learning that I am from Atlanta, our Turkish waiter imparted some sage advice to Jack:
“Be careful with those Southern girls, they know what they want and they REALLY know how to get it.”
Truer words have never been spoken.

I'm popular. Kind of.
So, thanks to all you lovely tumblrs out there, my tumblarity has risen from 13 to a staggering 33 today. (Yes, I know that most of you have tumblarity in the 100s, but I’m feeling special. Usually I’m sitting at a 10.) Thanks for all the love.

He's Not Interested
I recently found this blog. It’s two young ladies from WFU (they happen to be Chi O’s and one of them recently transferred to UNC – traitor). They are pretty hilarious and I’ve enjoyed their posts, so if you went to WFU or just like a good chuckle, add them to your tumblr. Thanks for the laughs, girls.
And in response to your comment on my lacking WFU education (re: my Grammar...

Grammar Question
So, I have always been told that when you are writing a sentence and put in parentheses that the punctuation goes after the last parentheses (like this). First question, is this true? Second question, what if the whole sentence is in parentheses? At that point, does the punctuation sit inside the parentheses? (This is what I mean.)
On a slightly related note, am I spelling parentheses right? It...

Going Green
I have an obsession with tea. I love iced tea. Even though I’m from the South, I actually prefer it unsweetened (blasphemy, I know.) About two years ago, I discovered the Iced Green Tea at Starbucks. It is amazing and delicious. I’ve made a habit of drinking an iced green tea in the morning when I head to work. There is a fabulous tea store/cafe next to my apartment that feeds my...

It Smells Like Something Bad in My Nose.
Someone is eating something that smells terrible. It isn’t making my work experience lovely. Rather, it is making me want to leave the building. Interesting, since NYC usually smells terrible too, but the streets can’t be this bad.
(The title is for you, Meg.)

nice thought for the day
This restores my faith in people. When I first moved to NYC I was juggling 4 bags and a box trying to make it home when I dropped them on the corner. As I bent to pick them up, a man stopped and asked if he could help me carry them home. I declined (I’m a bit paranoid about strange men helping me) but I thought that the sentiment was really nice. Made me a little less pessimistic about the...

Raise Hell
It’s been awhile since Wake Forest, but occasionally I get a twinge of “college homesickness.” I’m having one of those today, which is stupid, since if I was back in college, I’d be studying for exams and writing papers, neither of which sound like very much fun right now. Regardless, those Friday and Saturday nights were a blast. From Bar Golf to Date Functions to...
